Teaching is a nuanced and complex process.  Therefore it’s critical that the professional development to support educators is equally as sophisticated.  CEL faculty, staff, and consultants possess the depth of content knowledge, instructional skill and leadership expertise needed to deliver thoughtful, meaningful, job-embedded professional learning.

Content Expertise

CEL’s nationally-recognized faculty, staff, and consultants have content and instructional expertise  that supports the learning of teachers, coaches, administrators, and district leaders. We provide reading, writing, mathematics and coaching workshops combined with demonstration lessons and coaching support for educators as they expand upon their instructional skills.

We realize the value of educators learning within the context of their own school and district.  It is for that reason that CEL provides on-site, job-embedded training which includes:  

• Teaching instructional strategies that are designed to give all students access to challenging content;
• Side-by-side coaching during lessons to support teachers as they practice using new instructional techniques;
• Aligning a school’s curriculum by facilitating the development of lessons and units that create meaningful learning experiences for students.

Leadership Development

It is critical that school and district leaders have the knowledge and skills to support powerful classroom instruction.  

We know that student learning increases in districts where instructional leadership is focused and intentional.  CEL consultants are skilled former school and district leaders who provide targeted professional development for principals and central office administrators.  Leadership development includes:

• Teaching administrators the core elements of what constitutes high quality classroom instruction;
• Facilitating classroom walkthroughs so leaders can analyze instruction to further develop their teachers’ skills;
• Developing district and school leadership skills to focus on the improvement of teaching and learning.
