The research is clear, the quality of classroom instruction is the most critical factor influencing student learning.

So,  what does it take to create effective teacher preparation programs?  Ones that provide the content knowledge, pedagogical skills and on-the-job experience that people entering the profession need?   Education Secretary Arne Duncan shared his perspective on October 22 at Colombia University Teacher’s College and cited the University of Washington program as “first-rate.” You can read the entire speech here.
