Math and Science Too Scary

An Intel survey finds that most parents are more comfortable talking with their children about drugs than the subjects Math or Science.  It appears many parents are lacking the content knowledge and/or confidence to assist their children with the current Math and Science concepts their children grapple with at school.  Yet the survey also reports that parents do recognize the importance of understanding these subjects and want to provide the necessary support.

Through CEL's work around the nation we've found that it isn't just parents who are uncomfortable talking in-depth about these subjects.  Many times well-meaning teachers and school leaders also lack the subject matter knowledge and pedagogical skills to know how best to improve the quality of Math and/or Science instruction in the classroom.  So, how can we best support this learning?
