Custom-designed

To improve student learning, educators must focus on the single most important factor: the quality of classroom instruction.

CEL doesn’t have a “one size fits all” professional development model.  Our goal is to work beside you to create meaningful learning experiences that are custom-designed around the needs of your students, teachers, coaches, principals and central office leaders.

Whether through one-day or multi-day sessions, our faculty, staff, and consultants are specifically trained to assist school districts in improving teaching and student learning. CEL’s on-line courses also provide a convenient way for educators to learn and to locate resources.

Some examples of our customized work include:

  • Training district leaders and administrators how to analyze classroom instruction through the use of school “learning walks”;
  • Providing reading, writing, and mathematics training for teachers and coaches at both the building and district level;
  • Facilitating regional and national superintendent, principal, coach and teacher-leader networks;
  • Guiding School Boards in leading an agenda of equity and instructional improvement

Comprehensive District Partnership

District-based professional development empowers everyone who works with students.  Everyone then shares a common vision and language for improving student learning.

CEL’s professional development is designed to improve student learning at scale.  Our long-term district partnership work provides opportunities for school leaders, administrators, coaches, and teachers to work together seamlessly and collaboratively.

When CEL is working district-wide, we’re able to collaboratively create a variety of learning opportunities such as:

  • Study group sessions to teach high-quality instructional techniques within  specific content areas (reading, writing, mathematics);
  • Coaching support to assist school and district leaders in their analysis of classroom instruction and their professional development planning;
  • Classroom “lab sites” where teachers and coaches can “try on” new instructional strategies with support;
  • Assistance for leaders in aligning system-level policies, practices, and structures in support of student learning.
