Notes from the Language Arts PLC :
This section contains some sample products from this group’s work as a collaborative team and reflects an evolution that some of the other PLC teams in AIS have not yet reached but are moving toward.
The notes from the Language Arts PLC meetings, if reviewed chronologically, might help outside viewers see the evolution of our work during 2009-10.
The documents that show scaffolding represent where we have arrived with identifying “proficiencies”. This group was able to pull out from their content area what we and the state are referring to as Essential Skills. The most important aspect of the work here is that it is scaffolded from the end of year 12 and from the end of each course. The descriptors are student performance benchmarks and attempt to describe what the student looks like and sounds like at each benchmark.
