Karen D. Gallman is an Executive Director of School Support and Improvement for Metro Nashville Public Schools and has worked in education for over 22 years. Ms. Gallman leads a diverse network of elementary schools focused on inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education. Her priority is building principals’ instructional leadership capacity through professional learning and coaching to improve outcomes for all students. Before this role, she spent time both at the school and district level serving as a teacher, regional technology coordinator, assistant principal, and principal. In 2014, Ms. Gallman successfully opened Phyllis E. Williams Spanish Immersion in Prince George's County, Maryland. Through her work, she created the conditions for a successful immersion program providing an intensive educational experience for students and faculty as early as kindergarten.
Ms. Gallman holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Florida State University. She recently completed her educational specialist degree in Accountability and Instructional Leadership and will complete her doctorate in Leadership and Professional Practice at Trevecca Nazarene University in 2019. Ms. Gallman is passionate about cultivating strong leadership for women in education. As a certified Gallup Strengths Coach, she founded a professional network, Red Lipstick Leadership, centered on mentoring and coaching for women who want to ascend to leadership positions within education.
