Laura Burgos is a third-year student in the Doctor of Education Leadership (Ed.L.D.) program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She began her career in 2001 as an elementary school teacher within the New York City Department of Education, the nation’s largest school district. Her desire to broaden her understanding of urban school models led her to serve in school leadership roles both within traditional and public charter schools. Most recently, Laura directed a regionwide middle school expanded learning time (ELT) program, where students completed career-focused apprenticeships led by industry professionals.
